Animal Liberation Front (A.L.F.) Liberates Elk from Oregon Farm
Animal Liberation Front cuts away fencing, release elk from farm
On the night of August 29th, the Animal Liberation Front raided the Damascus Elk Farm (23255 SE Highway 212) in Clackamas, Oregon. Fencing was stripped away, giving the animals a chance at escape. According to the communique received by the Animal Liberation Press Office, the ALF were forced to make a premature departure in the middle of the raid due to a “disturbance”.
This is the second deer farm raid in Oregon in the past year, and the third ever in the U.S. The previous raid took place in October 2010 at a deer farm in Molalla, Oregon. That action followed the same model: fencing was stripped away from pens, allowing the animals to escape into the surrounding countryside.
The full communique reads:
“On the night of August 29th, a small band of animal liberationists crept quietly onto the property of Damascus Elk Farm located at 23255 SE Highway 212 in Clackamas, OR. This farm raises dozens of Roosevelt Elk for commercial slaughter. Once we made it to the elk pens, wire cutters were used to successfully remove a large section of fencing from one of the pens. Unfortunately due to a disturbance, we had to cut our action short and we were unable to open the remaining pens. The total number of animals (if any) that got away is unknown, but the intent of our action should be made perfectly clear: to prevent directly the violence that is inherent to animal agriculture and to liberate sentient animal back into their native habitat.
Across the country there are thousands of elk and deer being held captive on farms, waiting to be liberated back into the wild. These acts of liberation are generally low risk and can directly save the lives of animals. Elk and deer farms have little to no security and the small size of the industry makes these farms particularly vulnerable to sabotage.
With this act we attempted to remove the last barrier between these wild creatures and their new, free lives. Link by link, these barriers will be dismantled in our society, to create a new ethic of freedom and accountability. Assist us in the struggle for liberation, or stand on the wrong side of history.
For all those imprisoned. -Animal Liberation Front”

PRESS RELEASE: There has been a break-in in one of our pounds. Despite the security some individuals have stolen some of the dogs that were being kept secured in cages. We believe this is the work of the A.L.F.

Elk are not sentient. They are nice but not sentient. One thing that really bothers me with this is if elk are let out of the fences where are they going to go? I dont know the area but unless the farm is out in the woods, which they generally arent, how are they supposed to get into their natural habitat? More likely they will be run over on the roads and end up as roadkill. I doubt that is what you are trying to do is it?
So, annewandering, elk do not feel, you say? \Able to perceive or feel things\ \Having an awareness of one’s environment\ \Experiencing sensation or feeling\ \ability to feel, perceive or be conscious, or to have subjective experiences\ \ability to experience pleasure and pain\
These are definitions of sentience. How exactly do these not apply to elk? And I don’t know about you, but I have seen plenty of elk on the open plain. Beside the highway. Not in the forest. And I’ve seen their relatives, white-tailed deer, in the suburbs. They eat grass. Grass is almost everywhere. They’re not likely to starve to death. I doubt these elk farms are in the middle of the city.
Tell me what you think the animal rights activists would prefer: ALL of the deer being imprisoned and ALL of them slaughtered, or ALL of the deer being free and a FEW killed in accidents? If you had to make this choice for a group of people, which would you choose? It isn’t that hard to understand.
To Anne: If elk aren’t sentient, why your concern that they will be run over and killed? If it isn’t sentient, after all, it can’t die. Were you just worried about skidding on the blood slick on the road? Your LOGIC is wandering, my dear.
these elk are pets, friends, and peoples property. would you like it if someone came in and let your cat out or your bird out of its cage? these animals are fed very well and cared for. if they need medical attention, they get it . they have plenty of food and water at all times and are healthy. just because people raise them or take care of them does not mean that they are abused in any way. Hunting is a tradition in many families and who are we to tell people they cant hunt. is it not better to have a controlled hunt or people out in the woods shooting at the first thing they see move. Why would you want to take the thrill of hunting away from someone who is disabled? I take offense at your opinions.
lets just all agree that annewandering has one of the most stupid logics! & sherril, really? r u that stupid? im pretty sure a disabled is not gonna be hunting and if thats their hobby they can go find a new one 🙂 but saying that pet owners are the same as these type of people that KILL animals and TORTURE them and give them crappy lives is not the same. and if their are pet owners that treat their animals in an inhuman way then their pets deserve to be freed as well!
anyway, good job and ALF!! keep up the good work!! XD dont mind these stupid people!
Elk usually die by violence whether they are kept by humans or live in the wild. Most suburbanite ALF folks seem to be of the opinion that the woods contain a fantastical Disneyesque life that the elk are being kept from. Life in the woods, where famine and disease are added to the possible ways for elk to die, is hard and painful. The ranch that the elk were “freed” from looks like a very humane place; elk raised in captivity have not learned the survival skill necessary to survive in the wild. It is much as though an ALF activist were “freed” from their yachts, fine wines, and vacation homes and dumped in the forest with a knife….they are not going to survive. Why do ALF activists usually choose to attack poor people and environmentalists? Is it because there is little risk of getting caught and their lawyers can get them off easily or is this part of a new culture war? That said, the ALF are generally failures as “terrorists”, while I think the intended methodology is to inspire fear (to terrorize), they are not all that scary.
Why didn’t you publish my comments about the Tyee Pens? Lets free the fish sooner that were being freed is idotic? These fish were nutrured, loved and hand raised by good people with good intentions. You claim to be into the freedom of all things but you only pubish comments not critical of stupid deeds? Do you even know what a hypocrite is? Grow up Alpha Moron. Some day you will realize what idiots you really are and god help us if you don’t. Keep these words close to your heart ” A human being can be lazy some of the time and dumb some of the time but nobody can ever survive being lazy and dumb all of the time”
UNTIL EVERY CAGE IS EMPTY !
Biff if you think ALF are terrorist then maybe you should spend your entire life in a cage and left to die for………….. Once this occurs you will be wishing ALF was recusing you out of your misery.
BIFF barf whom ever you are hunt each other and leave the animals alone.
Go Vegan
Karma is bad news it will get you so will the animals.
Sherril: you lost on your comment about a pet cat or bird in a cage. Sorry kiddo, no cat OR bird should be in a cage. Elk managed to survive before we arrived on this continent. I don’t think they’d agree with your opinion at all.
my question is about the whole native habitat. Elk were a plains animal moved west for pertection by man. So if you are returning them to there native habitat, you are failing. As for no cages and everything free, the Americas and the world are full of non native animals. Most were bred for a perpose by man. Most the animals that people think of like swine, horses, cows, goats, sheep, most dogs, and cats are not native to the Americas. for that fact, niether are we humans. We are a world full of greed, either greed in preservation or desimation. Managment is were we need to look. Animals in the wild have a miserable death when it comes to overpopulation. Well we all have are moments.
