Mink Liberator William Viehl Released From Prison
On Thursday, convicted mink liberator William “BJ” Viehl was released from federal prison.
Earlier this year, a rogue judge sentenced Viehl to 24 months in prison for the release of 650 mink from the McMullin and Sons fur farm outside of Salt Lake City. The sentence was four times what Viehl agreed to in his plea bargain.
The other prisoner in this case, Alex Hall, is expected to be released in December, despite having been sentenced to less time than his co-defendant. Release dates in the federal system are often calculated in an arbitrary way, despite a fixed sentence length.
Welcome home, BJ.
