Vegan Prisoner Steve Murphy Denied Vegan Food
E.L.F. prisoner and long-time vegan Steve Murphy is requesting help from the outside in receiving vegan food. Steve’s prison is currently on lockdown following an unknown incident, and he has been unable to receive an adequate vegan diet. Steve’s support group put out a request for calls and faxes to the prison asking Steve be given vegan food.

Message from Steve Murphy:
“Well, Scrooge has let us out today for 20 minutes to use the showers, email and use the phones. I am not certain when i will be able to write again thou it could be several days. i am also not certain what they intend to do this coming weekend – XXXX-mas- so i would suggest you call the prison to see if you can get in before making any long drives down here.
Food has been a major hurdle too recently. They give us bologna and cheese sandwiches every day for lunch and dinner.i have had bread and mustard sandwiches with fruit every day for the last 2 1/2 weeks. i have put in requests to the chaplain and told the C.O.’s that i cannot eat the stuff they are giving me. the response so far has been ‘too bad’ and nothing has changed. So please feel free to phone the prison and request i/we begin receiving healthy food again.

Just phoned, the warden said he must report to the chaplain on Monday between 9 and 4 that only the chaplain can request the vegan diet for him. He also mentioned someone else had already called and he had given the same information. Thanks for posting this, didn’t ask about visits, but will call back Monday, more love.
This is cruel and unusual punishment and we should not tolerate this. A Vegan diet is too easy to supply for there to be any reasonable excuse.

what is this shit? first of all he shouldnt be in prison, he and his loyal followers are saints. secondly, it’s a helluva lot easier to make vegan dishes than meat. will do all i can to help.
For the conservatives who ask why he should get ‘special treatment’ – if all the others get the food they can eat then so should he.
Is it possible to send a care package to him with Vegan food?
